Endurance, the pain of diligence Where we were forced into a predicament When all eyes are uneasy, as if we are not legitimate They say we cannot cope But all we can cling onto is hope That in our heart a fire burns And awaits time on its own to turn So as the wind decides to blow, The moon directs the sea to roll In order for the sadness to finally start To extinguish the gentle beat of my heart “People!” I call “If all are to be equal, then why do they stall? We battle our tears But it falls far from their ears! And the reason, though meer, Is quite direct, but unclear In order for all to come together, We must be as transparent as the weather We look up to the skies for the answer, But it seems to trickle farther and farther For our dreams are no different than Those of the ones who refuse us a hand But know, a tear will finally fall, And with that, the light of day will call A proclamation will reach us And with that, an emancipation will seek us So, though we stagger to tremble weak, Our generation will not stand to be labelled ‘bleak’ For, it matters not the color of our skin Or how the sky chooses to glow, jumble, or wear thin” The importance is who we choose to be For our life matters, I guarantee So stand straight and walk with pride For our life matters, there’s nothing to hide
