Gone and with them a Piece of Me by Adonis Bundalian As I watch them cut the trees down I can't help but feel a part of me is lost These trees have been here for so long A part of my childhood, a part of my growth I used to climb their branches high Feeling so small and alive The leaves rustled and the birds sang I was free, I belonged But now they're gone, just a memory Replaced by streets, so cold and so empty I can't help but feel a sense of loss As they destroy this piece of nature, this piece of me These trees taught me so much How to stand tall and be tough How to weather the storms and keep on growing Their absence leaves a gaping hole, a sense of not knowing But I'll always carry their lessons with me I'll keep on growing, wild and free For even though they're gone, their memory lives on In the person I am, the person I've become
